Not Just Another Weekend Sled Dog Race
The CopperDog 150 is not just another weekend sled dog race.
Our geographic position and the late season run puts the
CopperDog in a class of it's own. Like other races of this
caliber, every effort is being made to make this inaugural
running of the dogs an extremely competitive and professionally
executed event.
Heavy lake effect snow and the resulting extended winter
season uniquely qualify the Copper Country as the location to
race in the month of March. Our combined checkpoint/stage
racing format is designed to invite and challenge racers from all
of the disciplines of the sport. Dog teams at their
physical peak combined with the rugged terrain of the Keweenaw
Peninsula provides the perfect opportunity for musher's to settle
all scores.
From 8-dog speedsters to 12-dog endro-racers, all classes will
find common ground in our 10-dog, multi-discipline, 150-mile
trek. Faster teams will enjoy the extended stage rests
while endurance teams will have to kick it up a notch keep from
getting left behind. Not since the 'Tortoise and The Hare'
has strategy been so important.
Regardless of your teams strengths and style the CopperDog 150
will present unique opportunities, challenges, and excitement.
Come strut your stuff at the CopperDog 150 this March 12th -
14th, in Calumet Michigan.
