The CopperDog 150 is a wondrous and inspiring experience for many of us. Inspired by the event itself, A.J. Fischer wrote the song "Midnight on the Rail" the week of the 2011 race. She recorded the song with Scott Perkins and passed it along to us.
The song perfectly captures the spirit of the CopperDog 150, the community, and people people that make this place great. Enjoy "Midnight on the Rail" along with some video clips from the 2010 and 2011 events.
A.J. Fischer was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
She started traveling in the late seventies, and later spent 17 winters in Dallas and Austin, Texas. She worked for 8 of those years for Tom Garrison at the Stoneleigh P Cafe and "Strictly Tabu", an amazing Italian bistro with live Jazz -which she states.
"Working at a furious pace absorbing Jazz beats night after night, affected my ears & soul forever..". During the eighties she began studying Joe Pass guitar methods which can be heard weaving through her compositions.

The 2nd annual CopperDog 150 and CopperDog 35 sled-dog races are just a few days away. If you still have made up your mind on coming out and join in the fun, perhaps revisiting the CopperDog Spirit video from last year will give you a taste of what to expect. Watch this video in HD on Vimeo.

Race teams will be getting off the main snowmobile trail this year for a little back-country adventure. Our trail crew hit the trail on Sunday (1/30/2011) with CopperDog 150 Trail Boss Matt Eberly. This video is a little on the long side, but gives a peek into the planning process and what goes into developing a trail for Mushers that fun and safe.
