Volunteer Training Session
The CD150 held a non-mandatory training session for volunteers today
in Calumet at the CLK Elementary School gym and parking lot. Race Director,
Brian Tiura, Volunteer Coordinator Brad King, and Musher Truman Obermeyer
talked openly with mushers about the various volunteer jobs and provided
hands on experience with Brian's race team.

Truman Obermeyer spent some time with volunteers showing them how a dog-sled
is equipped and how that equipment works. Volunteers can learn more about mushing
and watch a demo of the various sled-breaks in action in this video.
Explanation of the sled is about 12:27 into the video.
Video Clip: Vaccination Clinic and Training Run
Event: October 18th, 2009, Posted: October 20th, 2009
Here are a few video clips from the first annual CopperDog 150 Vaccination Clinic and Training Run.
Over a half-dozen dog teams showed up for Rabies Vaccination administered by Vetranarian and
Iditarod Musher Tim Hunt. Members of the local community also brought their household pets to
the clinic.
The original plan was to administer the vaccinations first then hit the trails, but the dogs
we very excited about the run, so the decision was made by race direct Brian Tiura to run the
dogs so they would be more calm to receive their shot afterwards.
We had a little trouble getting the ATV with the camera-man (that will
be me, the goofy face in the middle of the video) started, but once we did, we caught up and
grabbed a few shots of a couple of teams. The video camera was mounted on a stabilization rig so
some of the shots are pretty smooth. Hope you enjoy the footage.
